Services
Weekly Sunday Service 10.30am

Service at 10.30am on Sunday each week with childrens groups, except on the first Sunday (and also not during the long school holidays). We start the service all together and children leave for their groups after the first part of the service. When it is a communion service children rejoin us for communion, (and children can be admitted to receive communion - please feel free to discuss this with one of the ministers if you would welcome this for your child).

There is a creche area within the main worship space, at the front on the right, where smaller children (0-3) are welcome to stay in the service, as well as a creche area separate from the worship space at the back if you need it.

  • First Sunday 10.30 service is Worship for All - it is kept shorter (approx 1 hour) and designed to include everyone as far as possible.
  • Second and Fourth Sundays 10.30 service is communion and tends to be an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half long, with childrens groups alongside (with children rejoining the congregation for communion in the latter part of the service).
  • Third and Fifth Sundays 10.30 service is morning worship, more open in style and approx an hour and a quarter long, also with childrens groups alongside the service.

All the services follow a teaching programme with Bible based preaching and activities involving children where that fits in, especially on the first Sunday. Sometimes St Hilda's School Children come to help in leading the service.

Sunday Early Communion 8.15am

Communion at 8.15 on 1st and 3rd Sundays

This is a small friendly service, with some regular attenders but becoming more popular for those with a busy Sunday on that particular week as well ...

A more traditional style of said communion service with teaching which at different times of the year either works through a book of the Bible (e.g. Daniel recently) or follows a thematic programme (e.g. such as Prayer), as well as following the pattern of the Church Year more generally.

Daily Prayer 9.15am

Morning prayer every week day at 9.15am

We meet from 9.15-10.00am, very informally, as a small group in the vestry (which has comfortable seating!) at church present. We usually read three Bible passages together - from the psalms, the Old Testament and the New Testament, with some relaxed discussion about each passage, that then informs a time of open prayer.

We want to have an emphasis on hearing God speak through one another and into our local situation, and on asking him to bring a new openness to his work in our local community, as well as bringing local and wider concerns to him in intercession.

Prayer is vital to the life and ministry of the church, so that we place a high priority on giving time to God together in prayer each day. But this also an excellent time for becoming more familiar with the scriptures and growing in understanding of Christian faith, as we look to the Bible as our inspiration for our praying.

Praise & Prayer 1st Sundays 6.30pm

An informal meeting for an hour of praising God and praying freely.

This is more experimental for us, a time when we are looking to enjoy the presence of God and experience his power at work in our lives. We generally include prayer for healing in this service and have seen God working in this way, as well as focusing prayer upon specific areas of our church life and vision.

There is a growing sense of joy and expectancy in these times, and an opportunity for people to grow in their experience of the Holy Spirit and in praying and using their gifts in a smaller gathering.

Note: no service in August.
